Fix for Firefox Right Click Menu Not Working problem !

Right clicking might not work in your Firefox web browser if you have the Firefox version 3.5.x or above is installed. This must be very annoying when situations like trying to copy some selected text or save an image to local hard drive from a web page. But, still you can get rid of this problem by using keyboard shortcuts (ex. ctrl + C for copy). But this temporary solution is not always helpful for every one specially with those who are not familiar with the keyboard shortcuts. Below we have given you the permanent fix for this right click menu not working problem.

This problem is really caused by the yahoo toolbar installed in your browser. simply hiding yahoo toolbar from view > toolbars menu will not fix this problem. you have to disable it or uninstall it. If your still using the yahoo toolbar, then You should try updating it. These process are given blow. Just follow one of the steps below.

Disabling yahoo toolbar

Goto Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > Select the yahoo toolbar from the list of installed extensions and click “Disable”.

Uninstalling yahoo toolbar

Goto Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > Select the yahoo toolbar from the list of installed extensions and click “Uninstall”.

To update yahoo toolbar (If you still want to use it)
Goto Tools > Add-ons > Extensions >click “Find Updates”

Now restart for the changes to take effect. After than you should see the right click menu working.

Force Firefox to open New Tabs next to Current Tab

when you open a new tab in Firefox, Firefox will place that tab at the end of the tab bar. This mean after the last tab in the current tab collection. Problem comes when you have too many tabs opened. Because you have to scroll to the other end of the tab bar to see the newly opened tabs. This is an annoying task.

So how do you tell Firefox to open new tabs right next to the current tab?

There are few addons that tailor-made for this purpose. Next Tab, Tab open Relative are few of those. But, Tab mix plus beats them all by providing a whole lot of tab management features including the so important ‘Open new tabs next to current tab‘.

Here are some of the key features of Tab Mix Plus addon :

Open new tabs next to current one – The feature we are talking about.
Lock Tab – Prevent a tab from navigating to another page from the current page it shows.
Protect Tab – Prevent any accidental close of a tab.
Duplicate Tab – Open a copy of the selected tab.
Reload all the tabs - Reload all the tabs currently opened. This feature is useful when you open firefox that in a process of restoring the previous session tabs, but the internet connection is not active. So you will see page cannot display for all the tabs. with this feature, you simply right click one tab and select “Reload all the tabs”.
Close similar tabs – Close all the tabs belongs to a single website / domain name.

Crash Recovery – Restore crashed sessions on reopen forefox.

There are many more features it has, but little less important that this whole list.

Most of this features can be simply accessed by right click on any tab. For options like the one related to the topic, you need to go to the Tab mix plus options window and should enable the feature.

This is how you enable the ‘Open new Tabs next to current Tab’ feature in Tab Mix Plus :

Install Tab Mix Plus ! (You need to restart Firefox after the installation)

Goto Tools -> Select “Tab Mix Plus Ooptions’ -> Enable “Open new tabs next to current tab” and click ok. That’s it ! from now on you will see the new tabs opening next to the current tab.

Firefox does not remember Usernames and Passwords

I was having a serious problem with Mozilla Firefox (3.5) which does not remember user names or passwords that i enter in to websites even when i checked “Stay signed in” or “Keep me signed in” check box. So i have to enter the login data again and again on every visit to those websites if my browser restarted. Really annoying.

Today i found the fix for this problem. Now every thing works fine. The problem was really caused by the file that stores cookies in your Firefox profile folder has been corrupted. You need to fix this file as shown below.

1. Open your Firefox profile folder.

The best way to open the profile folder is by using an addon call MR Tech Toolkit

Simply install MR Tech Toolkit and restart your Firefox.

Goto Tool -> Edit my config -> Click Open Profile folder

2. Rename cookies.sqlite to cookies.tmp

Inside profile folder, rename the file cookies.sqlite to cookies.tmp

Restart Firefox

That’s it! From now firefox should remember user names and passwords and keep you logged in to your favorite websites all the time.

Show or Hide Firefox Tabs

Show or Hide any firefox tab is very easy with this small firefox addon called HideTab.

To hide a Tab you have two methods.

1. Right click the tab you want to hide and click “Hide Tab”.

Click the HideTab icon from the Firefox status bar.
You can see all of your tab titles has been listed in the popup menu.
Simply select the tab you want to hide. That’s it!

To restore a hidden tab, again click on HideTab status bar icon

In the popup menu, You can see the hidden tabs marked with a red icon which is having an exclamation mark. Just click on them will bring back your hidden tabs.

Two Firefox addons that can save you a great amount of time

Tired of clicking those next page & previous page links on web pages?

Save a great amount of time by simply installing one of this add-ons and it will auto load you the next page just under the current page your viewing. This works on almost all of the popular websites like google, yahoo, facebook, digg, blogger, wordpress etc.

There are two popular addons that allow this feature in firefox.

1. AutoPager 2. FastestFox

I personally recommend you to start with the FastestFox addon which i found bit faster and smoother than the Autopager. Further i noticed, FastestFox supports great number of sites than AutoPager does. For example, I did not see autopager works with flickr or wordpress. But fastestfox does it in smart fashion.

* Do not use both addons at once. It might make conflicts and may cause slow loadings.

Here are the description of each.

1. AutoPager

AutoPager, as the name implies is a dedicated addon to auto load the next page under the current page your viewing in a website. For example, take a look at a google search result, which will contain lots of pages. So you have to keep click on the next previous links or on the numbers to visit other pages. With auto pager this process made really easy.

As i stated above, basically this addon works with many populer websites by default. But if a site does not supported by this addon that you often visit, then you have the option to ad that site through the AutoPager configuration sidebar. Go to Tools > AutoPager> Site Wizard. Unfortunately the configuration method is not that user friendly (if i am correct), you have to learn a new language called xPath (XML Path Language) to ad new websites that you want the Auto Load support.

FastestFox is a powerful addon that implements the auto next page loading feature as part of the program only unlike the AutoPager which is a dedicated addon for this purpose.
