Major rainfall in UAE (12 Pictures)
Rare rainfall in the United Arab Emirates caused traffic jams, car accidents, flooding and school closures as parts of the Gulf desert state received record precipitation.
According to UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), Dubai recorded a total of 22.2mm of rain, while Abu Dhabi and Sharjah received 43.4mm and 35.6mm respectively.
Dadna, a small UAE town north of Khor Fakkan, received the highest rainfall with 63.6mm, while Masafi which earlier reported to have received biggest amount of rain, came a close second with 61.2mm, NCMS said.
“Strong northwesterly winds kept the cloud moving towards the northern and western region of the country, bursting first in the western region and then in north around midnight,” an NCMS official said. ( News quoted from indiatimes.com)
